Product Review: Stake Driver

Product review, Lady Foot (Pry Bar) 21”length 11/16” diameter. Tool steal.

The Lady Foot Pry bar is a phenomenal tool to use on the trapline. I know what you are thinking… What in the hell am I going to use a 21” pry bar for? And you may think the answer is not as crystal clear as the product description, but this product is one of the most underrated superstake/bullet stake drivers you could own. With its product dimensions and hardened tool steal, this stake driver can power through the toughest soil conditions. Clay soil or rocky soil stands no chance when coming up against the LADY FOOT. The Stakes tips will fail before this driver does.

I have personally been using the same driver since 2018 and have never had any issues with it. The only issue is when you are in hard ground the bullet stake tips have the potential to fail before the driver does. The tapered end of the driver fits perfectly into the the bullet stakes, and as an added bonus/tip they will also work with Berkshire disposable stakes, and this is coming from first hand experience. From my experience using the lady foot with the berkshires is not as fool proof as the bullet stakes, but it is manageable.

This stake driver has a black oxidized finish to help prevent rusting, although it will not last long after you put it through the test of a trapline. I end up dying both of mine each year in log wood dye for maintenance purposes. This has served me well since 2018. The lady foot has the hook at the top that most would refer to as the “pry” bar portion of this unit, but I refer to it as the handle. I use the “pry” portion of the lady foot for the point of impact of my 4lb hammer, but I also use it for the handle to pull it out of the ground or if I need to twist the driver because it was lodged in some rocks underneath the soil. The Hook doubles as a point of impact to hit from underneath with your claw portion of the hammer to dislodge the stake if it becomes wedge in the ground.

The tapered end of the driver not only compliments the bullet stakes flawlessly, but it can also be used to make a poke hole for a flat set. This is the king of stake drivers from my personal experience, and it has a price point that ranges from $25-$35 dollars. If you have an amazon account with free shipping then this is a great deal, and a stake driver you will never need to replace… Unless you lose it. I will never recommend a product I have not tested throughly, and if you are tired of buying those “high end” stake drivers that break within a year, do yourself a favor…. Check out the LADY FOOT PRY BAR you cheap ass mofos.
